Artist's Description

The two gateway rocks form the natural entrance to the Garden of the Gods. Towering several hundred feet above the valley floor, they are composed of fine grains of red sandstone. The scenic drive is approximately 5.6 miles long on several roads that loop around the park.

Garden of the Gods located in Colorado Springs, Colorado was designated a national landmark in 1971. As you explore the gardens you travel back in time over 300 million years ago of geological history. The elevation as you enter the park is over 6,000 feet, but that not the highest point in the park.

This photo was taken in the Winter month of December in 2021 while I visited the gardens.
